If you're in a job interview, and we ask you a question, and throw you an insult, then we want to see how you handle multi-tasking. So, you can handle the insult poorly, you can handle the insult smoothly, but you can't deflect the question. If you avoid the question, then you didn't do a good job multi-tasking, then you're not qualified for the job.

We find that if you're talking about several topics with someone, such as topicA, topicB, and topicC, and then end with a minor insult, then for most lower-class people, will deflect the topics and "only" respond to the minor insult.

So in a job interview, we call this a simulation. If you answered the question, or and also addressed the insult, we say congratulations, we apologize for the insult, we wanted to see if you can handle an insult and answer a question at the same time. Even in an e-mail, we won't have a situation where we ask you 50 questions, and you only answered 49 of them (say, you missed question #37), but it's common to ask people 2 questions at once to see if they can answer both in the same reply. Otherwise, you don't qualify.
